Finally, we know how much power the most track-worthy, most hardcore Dark Horse puts out — and it’s ‘a ton’.
With 500 horsepower on tap, the standard Ford Mustang Dark Horse is already a powerful beast. There’s always room for more in the muscle car world, though, and now we have official figures for the supercharged Dark Horse SC. Ford teed things up with the initial debut, but we have the specific figures in our hands as of Monday morning. How does 795 horsepower and 660 lb-ft of torque sound?
That is, to put it bluntly, a hell of a bump over that 500 hp number. While it’s not quite up to the Mustang GTD (granted, the SC isn’t priced like one, either), that still puts it above the old S550-generation Shelby GT500. This is, if you prefer to go that route, a new GT500 in all but name, going off the power figures. Keep in mind, too, that Shelby also isn’t leaving anything on the table with its efforts this generation.

As you’d expect, the 2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC owes its enormous amount of grunt to its engine. Instead of a 5.0-liter Coyote, we’re once again dealing with the 5.2-liter Predator V8, shared with the old GT500 as well as the current Mustang GTD and the F-150 Raptor R, for that matter.
The Ford team developed the supercharged version of the Dark Horse alongside the GTD as well as the GT3 racer, from the aerodynamic elements to the 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and the Brembo carbon ceramic brakes. It is the most hardcore version of the Mustang most folks will actually buy, and comes priced at $108,495 for the base version. Beyond that, if you want the Track Pack for even more performance goodies, you’ll have to set aside $144,985.
Order books for the 2027 Ford Mustang Dark Horse SC are open now. If you want one, deliveries are slated to begin this summer, so the wait shouldn’t be too long.
