There are rumours that the Ford Mustang GTD might have beaten the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X’s Nurburgring lap time.
A video shared by StatesideSupercars on YouTube shows two Mustang GTDs lapping the ‘Ring at high speed. One of them is an EU-spec car, while the other is a US-spec machine. It is said that the fastest lap was clocked at 6 min 41.74 seconds.
If true, this will put the Mustang GTD only a second shy of the Mercedes-AMG One’s lap time. Crucially, it’s way quicker than the Corvette ZR1X’s time of 6 min 49.275 seconds.

The GTD is the most extreme version of the Mustang. It comes with a bespoke aero package, including hydraulically controlled front flaps and an active rear spoiler, a semi-active suspension with a pushrod setup at the front and a transaxle at the back.

The Mustang GTD is powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged V8 that delivers 815 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque, making it the most powerful Mustang ever made. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
