Aston Martin Valhalla: The perfect supercar for the road, almost


The first independent reviews of the Aston Martin Valhalla have started pouring in. There seems to be a consensus among those who have had a chance to experience the car first-hand, and it’s mostly positive.

Aston Martin has had a horrid start to the 2026 Formula 1 season. While they may be struggling on the racetrack, Aston might have just created its greatest road car in the form of the Valhalla.

The Valhalla is Aston Martin’s first series-production hybrid supercar. It is also the first model to use a bespoke 4.0-liter twin-turbo flat-plane V8 paired with an all-new 8-speed dual-clutch transmission, which incorporates an electric motor and an electronic rear differential. The internal combustion engine produces 817 hp, while three electric motors deliver a combined output of 248 hp. Together, the plug-in hybrid powertrain delivers 1065 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.

According to the reviews, the powertrain has been tuned perfectly for track and road use. It’s responsive thanks to torque fill from the electric motors, which eliminates turbo lag. Then there’s suspension, which is surprisingly pliant on public roads and super capable on track, while torque vectoring keeps the car pointed in the right direction. The only gripe is the underwhelming sound of the AMG-sourced twin-turbo V8 engine.

The Valhalla isn’t a supercar you would drive daily. But it does a lot of things right. It’s a relatively comfortable road car and is exciting to throw around corners on a racetrack. It looks great and goes like stink. At around $1 million, it even seems like good value.
